For a while I struggled with what I would put here. I think one of the hardest things to do is talk about ourselves. Part of me just wants to put rainbow, sunshine and happy unicorn shit here and the other part of me just wants to give it to you raw (so not meant to be sexual, get your minds out of the gutter) and I seem to struggle with the ability to balance the two out.
I have this underlying fear of offending someone just by being who I am. First and foremost I am a women (if that wasn’t painfully clear). Second most important thing to know about me is I am a feminist. Yep, that’s right, I said that “dirty” word. Third I am a witch. OH HOLY SPIRIT!! SHE’S A FEMINIST WITCH!! WHAT WILL THEY THINK OF NEXT?!?! – is usually the response I get when people find this out about me.
Another important thing you might not know about me, regarding my spiritual beliefs and practices, is that I’m technically in the “broom closet”, as they say, because no one in my day to day life (family and friends) knows this little fact about me. When you live in the bible belt and everyone (literally, like I’m not even joking EVERYONE) around is a Christian or belongs to some sort of abrahamic faith, you learn to keep your mouth shut about these things. I need more pagan and witchy friends! North Carolina witches, where you at though?
Now I’m a loud, proud, “over the top” feminist (as my anti feminist friends and family like to point out) because apparently sharing news articles related to feminism every few weeks = over the top feminist. I’m pretty sure half of them have unfollowed me on Facebook.
What else is there to know?? Maybe you’re wondering about my spiritual practice. I feel like it might be too much to put here (with everything else) and I feel it deserves it’s own dedicated area on my blog, since it is such a big part of my life. Plus I’ll be able to go a little deeper into what it’s like to be in the “broom closet” and all that
great stuff. I will give you this though, everything traditional that you’ve read about paganism and witchcraft… yeah throw that out the window. I’ve paved my own path and though I may have some aspects of traditional witchcraft and paganism mixed in there, it probably only makes up like 10% of my practice.
Oh yeah. I’m 26. I live in NC. I have a great boyfriend (who’s the only one in my day to day life who knows everything about me, he’s cool) we’ve been together for over 10 years. I have no pets but I envy every soul who gets to share their life with a fur baby. I have my own Etsy shop (and yes it’s my main job) and my favorite thing to do is a read a good book while sipping on some banging ass herbal tea 🙂
Music is super important to me, as I believe it is for most people. So I’ll probably be talking about that a lot more as time goes on.
Catch you on the flipside ❤
